Bass Guitar Lesson FAQ
What age can my child start bass guitar?
We accept bass guitar students as young as 4 years old. For very young beginners, we start with a properly sized instrument and focus on building hand strength and coordination. Our teachers make lessons fun and age-appropriate for every student.
Do I need to buy a bass guitar?
Having a bass at home for practice is strongly recommended. We can help you choose the right size and style. A quality beginner bass guitar is a great starting point. We have instruments available during lessons for students who are just getting started.
How much do bass guitar lessons cost?
Bass guitar lessons are $40 per week (30-minute private sessions), billed monthly at $160–$200 depending on weeks in the month. There’s a one-time $60 enrollment fee. We also offer an Academy 30 package at $997 for 30 lessons (a savings of over $200).
How quickly will I see progress?
Most students can play along to a full song within 4–6 weeks of consistent practice. After every lesson, your teacher sends a detailed note summarizing what was covered. Every 12 lessons, you’ll receive a progress video showing growth.
What is the difference between bass guitar and regular guitar?
Bass guitar typically has 4 strings (vs. 6 on guitar), is tuned an octave lower, and plays a different role in music. The bass provides the rhythmic and harmonic foundation that holds a band together. Bass players lock in with the drummer to create the groove everyone else plays over.
Do you accept Step-Up Scholarships?
Yes! We are a Step-Up Scholarship direct provider. Your scholarship can cover the enrollment fee and weekly bass guitar lessons — making music education completely free for qualifying families.
What if my child misses a lesson?
Cancel 24 hours in advance to reschedule at no charge. Last-minute? Take the lesson online via Zoom with pro cameras and sound. If the student can’t attend at all, the teacher records a short video recap so they don’t fall behind.
What makes your bass guitar lessons different?
Our bass program features a Latin Grammy-nominated bassist on staff, immersive studio-quality sound with pro headphones and mixers, and real band experience from day one. We track progress with lesson notes and videos, and students perform at recitals, band shows with 600+ audience members, and professionally filmed music videos.
